The Veterans of Foreign Wars holds the Patriots Pen (PP) Essay contest and Voice of Democracy (VoD) Scholarship competition annually. These two NASSP approved competitions provide chances for prizes at every level up to the national level where the grand prize for PP (Middle School) is $5,000 and the grand prize for VoD (High School) is $30,000.
