Press Release

We are excited to announce that Tift County Schools has been awarded $36,000 through Georgia’s Top State for Talent: High Demand Career Equipment Grant to expand our Information Technology program at Tift County High School!

The funding will provide students with additional hands-on experiences in artificial intelligence, computer science, cloud computing, networking and fiber optics, digital fabrication, and emerging technologies—connecting what students learn in the classroom to high-demand careers in Georgia.

But for us, expanding opportunity is about more than adding equipment. It is about removing barriers to access.

Tift County Schools continues to expand the ways students can enter and progress through computer science and information technology. Through NEON Cloud Computing, students have access to advanced cloud computing experiences and opportunities to prepare for AWS industry certification. Beginning in Spring 2027, we also plan to offer an online Introduction to Python course, creating another entry point into computer science for students whose schedules may prevent them from taking a traditional course. No previous programming experience is required.

These opportunities are part of a larger effort to build a technology pipeline where students can begin exploring, discover where their interests and talents fit, earn industry credentials, participate in Work-Based Learning, and continue into postsecondary education or the workforce.

Our students aren't simply learning how to use technology. They are learning to program, create, troubleshoot, design, question, and solve problems with it.

This $36,000 investment allows us to take another significant step forward by expanding our Applied AI and Information Technology learning environment with advanced equipment and experiences that reflect the technologies shaping today's workplace.

More pathways. Fewer barriers. Countless possibilities for students.
