ESMS was proudly represented in the Homecoming Parade by some of our great students and faculty!

Yesterday, Mrs. Sanders asked the FBLA officers to write thank you cards for our first responders. Tift County and especially ESMS is thankful for the hardworking and dedicated first responders who take great care of our community.

Ag students are growing their own vegetable plants. Students are growing Kale, Collards, Mustards and Cabbage that they will be able to take home and grow in their own gardens or containers. Students are keeping records on the plants in the classroom each week until they are ready to take them home to transplant. Students will also be growing these same crops in the ag garden raised beds.

This is a great way to get your young students prepared to join the Volleyball program.

Tracy Edwards, Founder and President of ASA Healthcare Solutions, spoke to Mrs. Story's healthcare classes about good interviewing techniques, owning your own business, and always being kind in the workplace.

Beacon testing tomorrow (9/12 and Wednesday (9/13). Please make sure that chromebooks are charged and ready for testing!

Get ready for Spirit Week!

Continuing with our passion for the safety and security of our students and staff, Eighth Street Middle and Northeast Middle teachers and staff were afforded the opportunity to learn the proper techniques in CPR and use of a defibrillator during a portion of our teacher workday.

ESMS and Northeast FFA Officers recently held a joint Chapter Officer Leadership Training at Northeast Middle. FFA Advisors and six State FFA Officers conducted leadership exercises with the middle school officer teams. After the training, the officer teams ate lunch at ABAC's Donaldson Dining Hall, toured the UGA Tifton Campus with UGA Tifton's Admissions Counselor Ethan Cobb and finished off the day with ice cream at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture Country Store.

Remember that today, September 5th, is a Teacher Work Day and a Student Holiday. We look forward to seeing students back tomorrow. #4theT

According to EMA and power companies, power has been restored to the majority of the residents of Tift County. All Tift County schools will resume normal operations on Friday, September 1st. Excuses for students who are unable to attend due to storm damage will be evaluated on a case by case basis. #4theT

We remain in contact with the EMA and power companies to monitor progress on getting power restored throughout the county. We will be making a decision regarding school tomorrow within a few hours and will post an update as soon as possible. #4theT

After consulting with our EMA, Georgia Power and Colquitt EMC, there are approximately 17,000 customers in Tift County without power at this time, this includes one of our campuses. Due to these circumstances, school will be canceled on Thursday, August 31st. We encourage everyone to use good judgment and remain safe when driving. Please keep the counties south of us in your thoughts as they saw a greater impact from the storm than we did. We will continue to assess the situation and will notify everyone of a decision regarding school on Friday, September 1st as soon as possible. #4theT

We are assessing the widespread power outages in Tift County and will notify everyone as soon as possible regarding school tomorrow, August 31st. Thank you for your patience. #4theT

After meeting with EMA and City and County Officials and out of an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to close Tift County Schools on Wednesday, August 30th for all students and employees.
It is unsafe to operate buses when sustained wind speeds are in excess of 35 - 40 mph. We have been informed that there is a 50% chance of sustained winds of over 40 mph. They anticipate that the storm could move further west which would increase the likelihood of us receiving these winds.
We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day on Wednesday and make a decision regarding any possible closure on Thursday, August 31st at that time.
Activities scheduled for tonight will continue as planned, unless otherwise posted. All activities for tomorrow have been canceled.
