ESMS Ag classes got some hands-on experience with chicks while learning about Poultry. While learning about the life cycle of chickens, students observed and compared 3 day old chicks and 3 week old chicks to see how fast they grow and how their feathers develop.

ESMS, NE and TCHS FFA members attended the Georgia FFA Convention with over 6,500 members, advisors, and guests at the Macon Centreplex, April 24-26, 2025. ESMS members Ellie Davies, Bo Golden and Jay Thompson were presented awards for their Middle School Record Books and Davies was also awarded High Individual score for the State Junior Horse Judging CDE.
Members also toured the Ronald McDonald House in Macon to take can tabs and other items that they have been collecting during the school year.
The convention featured six general sessions full of award presentations, motivational speakers, FFA talent, delegate business, and the conferring of the prestigious State FFA Degree on 819 members. The Convention kickoff speaker was Mr. Inky Johnson, a former college football player and motivational speaker, encouraging FFA students to continue to work towards their dreams no matter the obstacles they may face. Other speakers on the Convention docket included past Georgia FFA Officer and National FFA Southern Region Vice President, Jack Lingenfelter. In addition to the award sessions, the convention featured a career show, community service projects, and state level Career and Leadership Development Events and Agriscience Fair competitions.
