1st grade gifted students have been learning all about the water cycle (evaporation, condensation, precipitation), how clouds are formed, and the 4 main types of clouds (cumulus, cirrus, stratus, and cumulonimbus). We did an experiment with evaporation. We painted our hands with water and put a handprint on 2 sheets of paper. One paper was put in a Zip-lock bag and the other one was left out. We noticed that our handprint evaporated on the one left out. We also painted with water on the sidewalk, and WOW our pictures disappeared fast (due to the process of evaporation). Another day, we went outside and were cloud hunters. Then, on another day, we made clouds in cups and made clouds with shaving cream. We are becoming weather experts and having fun while learning!

2nd grade gifted students have been learning all about bees. We conducted an experiment with "pollen" (which was really Cheetos). The students moved around touching the Cheetos, and found out that this is much like how a bee collects pollen. We also learned about how important honey bees are to our world. We created posters, to hang in the school, to let others know of the importance of this insect. We have had an un"bee"lievable time learning about these fascinating creatures! Be on the lookout for more bee adventures from us!

We are aware that schools south of us have made a decision to close tomorrow and Friday. We have received no information at this time leading us to make that decision for Tift County Schools. We will continue to monitor the storm and work with our local EMA to make decisions. At this time we will be having school on Thursday and Friday. #4theT
