Students in Mrs. Coley’s class are working on analyzing and visualizing characters. They listened to a short story called A Very Rare Cow, then went back to their desk to draw what they visualized! Mrs. Coley showed the picture on the poster, AFTER they drew what they saw in their head.

5th grade students have been digging deep into informational texts and learning how they can contain multiple perspectives and primary or secondary sources. After reading about the integration of schools in the book "Through My Eyes" by Ruby Bridges, students invited para educator, Mr. Ken Ellis, to share his firsthand account and perspective on the integration of his own school system in Palm Beach, Florida. The safety of your child and all children in our schools, as well as the safety of the school staff and support personnel, is very important to us. In order to maintain a safe environment for our children to study and learn, it is necessary that we practice our emergency and crisis response plans by having drills designed to exercise our procedures. Today, at 1:30, we will practice our evacuation drill.
