Nutrition, ECE, & Teaching Classes Experience BASIC Training
Mrs. Grist’s Nutrition classes and Mrs. Shockley’s ECE/Teaching Classes had the great opportunity to experience a mini-BASIC Training presented by Mr. Leroy Bagley from the GA FFA-FCCLA Center near Covington. BASIC stands for Building and Achieving Success In Chapters. It is a training designed to teach leadership and team building skills to students in an exciting and hands-on environment. Each block were flexible and tailored toward the needs of the students in that particular class.
Future Educators Explore ABAC
On April 20, 2017, five Early Childhood/Teaching students attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, ABAC, to explore the various options that it has to offer. Those in attendance included Miraim Rameriz, Destini Williams, Aysia Carter, Casey Shirah, and Ulyssa Soto. The students began the day by observing a classroom of their choice from the schools in county. Then they participated in a tour of ABAC given by an ABAC Ambassador. The tour took the students from one end of the campus to the other exploring all aspects of being a college student. After the tour, lunch was served in the dining hall. Last the students had the opportunity to take part in a college class as the college students were learning about the history of education. Overall the students had a great time and learned a lot during their visit. Miriam said, “I really enjoyed the day. I feel like I learned about teaching and being a college student in general. I’m happy to know about the variety of options that I have if I plan to stay in Tifton after graduation. This definitely helps to make my decision easier.”
