Principal's Message

Dear Students,

Welcome to Tift County High School!  Depending on the choices that you make while you are here, the years spent in high school can be some of the most memorable times of your life.  Our mission at Tift County High School is not just to prepare you for graduation, but also to prepare you for your life after high school.  High school, like life, is what you make of it.  To get the most from both, I encourage you do the following:

Take advantage of every opportunity that you have to get a great education.  For most of us, opportunity does not just knock on our door.  Instead, education is the key that opens doors of opportunity.  Learn all that you can.

Get involved…join a club, participate in sports, march on the ROTC drill team, sing in the chorus, or play in the band.  With so many activities from which to choose, there definitely IS a place for you at TCHS.

Make new friends.  People change so get to know your peers now that they are adults.  You’ll be surprised at who they are.  Unfortunately, sometimes long-time friends choose a different path from you.  Remember that a true friend always wants what is best for you.  If your friend encourages you to do something that is not good for you, you definitely need a new friend.

Set high expectations for yourself.  Don’t settle for what is easy.  Instead, challenge yourself and give your best effort.  We appreciate most that which we work hardest to achieve.

As you choose the path for your life--whether you plan to attend a university or a technical college, join the military, or enter the work force--we are here to help.  Your teachers, advisors, counselors, and administrators truly want you to be successful, and we are glad to assist you in any way that we can.  If you need help learning a difficult topic, registering for the SAT, applying to colleges or for scholarships, or choosing the right career for you, all you need to do is ask.  We are here for you.

It is going to be a great year!
