Blue Devils play in Elite Eight - Students may be released

February 25, 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Wednesday, February 27, the Tift County High School Blue Devils travel to Discovery High School in Lawrenceville to participate in the third round of the State basketball play-offs. Tip-off time for the game is 6:00 PM. We anticipate that many of our students will want to attend this game to support our Blue Devils. Due to concern for our students’ safe travel to the game, we are allowing students who will be attending the game to leave school at 10:25 AM on February 27 provided they do the following:
1) Return the Permission Form attached to the Attendance Office BEFORE February 27. This Permission Form must be signed by the student’s parent or guardian, and the parent or guardian must provide a telephone number where he can be reached in the event that the school needs to speak with him.
2) Bring a ticket stub or receipt from the game to the attendance office on Thursday, February 28. The student’s name must be clearly written on the ticket stub or receipt.

Students who return the Permission Form and ticket stub/receipt as requested will not be marked absent for ELT and 4th through 7th periods, but students are expected to complete all assignments missed. Any student who checks out of school to attend the game without following these procedures will be marked as absent, and this absence will be unexcused.
